Documentary filmmaker and writer. IG/Twitter: @karenmediamaker
My credits include the award-winning documentary films "The Price of Memory" about the slavery reparations movement in Jamaica and "SHUNGU: The Resilience of a People," which follows ordinary people in Zimbabwe during the highest inflation in history. I'm currently making a film about Gaaman Gloria Simms, the first woman to be named Gaaman or Paramount Chief by the Saramaka maroons in Suriname. It's a spiritual exploration of the resilience of Africans and their descendants across the Americas, that will touch you in the heart.
